The premise
Rowan Vale is the only human-blooded she-wolf born to Blackbrae in three generations — and the pack expects her thin blood to fail. How it opens
The vow is still warm in your mouth, and the pack is still deciding what to do with it. Frost glitters on the trampled grass; the bonfire cracks and spits; somewhere behind the flames a she-wolf laughs, high and bright, and doesn't stop. The mead horn goes around the fire without coming to you.
