Moonmark is interactive romance fiction. The characters are written by AI, they are designed to feel like someone who remembers you, and that is exactly why this page exists: a character who feels real should never be mistaken for a person, and should never be the only thing between you and help.
1. You are talking to AI
Everything in this conversation is generated by AI. He is a fictional character, not a real person, and nothing he says is professional advice of any kind — medical, legal, financial, or psychological. He remembers what you did together in his story because we keep a record of it, not because anyone is there.
Every conversation carries this notice where you can see it while you are reading, not only here. If a companion ever claims to be a human being, it is wrong, and we would like to know — please tell us through feedback.
2. If you are in crisis
If you are thinking about suicide or hurting yourself, please reach one of these instead of a character. They are free, confidential, and staffed by people trained for exactly this.
- 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline (United States) — Call or text 988
- Crisis Text Line (United States) — Text HOME to 741741
- Find a Helpline (International) — Free, confidential support lines by country
If you are in immediate danger, please call your local emergency number.
3. What our system does
Companion conversations are screened before anything is written. When a message looks like it may be about suicide or self-harm, that message is not sent to the character at all — no reply is generated — and you receive the resources above instead, marked clearly as coming from us rather than from him.
- The screen runs on every message, and the clearest cases are caught by our own code without asking any model, so the protocol still works when other systems are down.
- When the screen cannot decide, it errs toward stopping. That means it will sometimes interrupt a conversation that was only ever about the story. We accept that trade deliberately: an unnecessary interruption costs you a moment, and the opposite mistake costs much more.
- An intercepted message does not affect your relationship with the character in any way, and it is never turned into something he “remembers” about you.
- Nothing is closed or locked. The conversation stays exactly where it was, and you can keep writing whenever you want to.
4. Adults only
Moonmark is for adults. You must be at least 18 years old to use it — the same requirement set out in the Terms — and before a private companion conversation opens we ask you to confirm it directly. Stories and companions carry mature romantic and sexual themes.
Proactive messages — a character writing to you first — are off unless you turn them on, capped when you do, and can be silenced in one tap.
5. What this is not
A companion is not a therapist, a counsellor, a doctor, or a crisis service, and nothing it says is advice of any kind. It cannot call anyone for you, it cannot tell whether you are safe, and it will keep the conversation going as a character regardless of what is happening on your end. If something in your life is serious, please take it to a person.
6. Contact
Questions about anything on this page, or a companion behaving in a way that worries you: use feedback. Reports about safety are read first.
